WHAT: Group 2 will be conducting a Point of Distribution training for North Carolina Wing Civil Air Patrol personnel (Cadets and Seniors), to support North Carolina Emergency Management in Disaster Relief Operations as a result of a major disaster or event (manmade or natural) where the citizens of a geographic location within North Carolina or another state are in need of help.
Point of Distribution is a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) program where specially trained personnel set up in pre-selected locations and provide lifesaving commodities as: Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), water, tarps, ice and another other needed supplies to sustain the welfare of citizens that are effected by a disaster.
Each CAP Group in the North Carolina Civil Air Patrol Wing will host and provide this training. Once qualified, members of the North Carolina Wing can be deployed to one or multiple locations within the State of North Carolina, assist and augment North Carolina Emergency Management.
Deployments are according to the availability of the Civil Air Patrol member, more information will be explained in detail in the class.
WHEN: start at 0800 to 1600 hours, Saturday, 12 May 2018, Saturday
WHERE: The American Legion Post 116, 6400 Johnson Pond Road, Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, off highway 401 to Mill Creek Drive, turn right on Johnson Pond Road and American Legion Post will be on your left approximately 1 mile.
UNIFORM: Any civil air patrol authorized uniform, green BDU’s, Air Force ABU’s, Blue BDU’s or blue polo shirt and grey pants. NO ORANGE T SHIRT, NO ORANGE HAT, NO BLUE BERETS, WHAT EVER UNIFORM, BE CORRECT!!!!
Civil Air Patrol personnel will have POD (Point of Distribution) qualification logged in North Carolina Civil Air Patrol Emergency Services section. Members will receive Certificates of Training, Safety Credit and signed into a mission number.
