Apex Cadet Squadron sent two cadets and two Seniors to Emergency Services training this past Saturday at Fayetteville Composite Squadron. Cadets Furlough and Webster along with Senior Member Bogart worked on GTM3 tasks while 1st Lt Willis worked on GTL tasks. The cadets and seniors learned valuable training skills such as organizing search lines, using whistle signals, identifying aircraft search clues, determining their pace count and many map skills.
They also had a session on blood borne pathogens. A favorite saying from the day that they learned was “Two is one and one is none” which means always have two items (especially pens/pencils). After training, 1st Lt Willis gave a tour of Pope Army Air Field including the aircraft static displays and monuments. One fun fact learned on the trip is the Green Ramp at Pope can deploy to anywhere in the world within 18 hours! They went next to tour some of Ft. Bragg, and after seeing the difference in officer and enlisted housing they decided it was best to be officers! Since the weather was great and it is a favorite of Apex cadets, our final stop was Sunni Skies. A fun and educational time was had by all.
